I'm pretty excited about this. King Arthur Flour has offered to give two Art and Lemons readers samples of their new flours, either the gluten-free multi-purpose flour (wheat, soy, and nut free) or unbleached cake flour blend (a blend of wheat and malted barley flour) along with a copy of The Baking Sheet newsletter.

(In case you haven't read it, The Baking Sheet features seasonal recipes, techniques, and photos to guide you along on your baking adventures).

With the gluten-free flour, you might want to try these super chocolate fudge-like brownies (note: you don't have to be gluten-free to love these brownies) which don't require any special ingredients outside your kitchen pantry. Or try this butter tart recipe with the cake flour.

If you're not familiar with King Arthur, they are America's oldest flour company, founded in 1790, the same year George Washington was first elected into office. Their flours are top notch and produce a perfect crumb with every loaf of bread, cake, or muffin. You can find baking inspiration, techniques, and advice on their web site, as well as this lemon custard cake which I have to try.

After all, I'm a glutton for lemons.

Thank you King Arthur Flour for the samples and offer!

Here's how you can win a box of King Arthur Flour and a copy of The Baking Sheet newsletter:

1. Leave a comment here with your baking idea for using either the gluten-free multi-purpose flour or the unbleached cake flour blend (let me know which flour you prefer).

2. For three extra entries, follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Google Reader. (Leave three separate comments).

3. This contest ends Friday, June 4th 8 am EST. The winner will be chosen by and notified by email.

Good Luck!

  1. I love to make gluten-free muffins for my toddler, but haven't found a blend yet that gives me the light, fluffy texture of wheat flour. I'd love to give this a try.

  2. I love to bake from scratch, but have always been of afraid of trying it with a gluten-free flour. Perhaps this brand is the one to try.

  3. I was recently diagnosed with celiac and it was so overwhelming at first. But now I've been trying to educate myself and I would absolutely love to create a birthday cake for mom that is gluten free because she has decided to go gluten free to help me and to support me.

  4. I'd love to try the cake flour and use it to make red velvet cake, maybe dyed with beet juice or something other than food coloring.

  5. Oh, and I am now following you on twitter!

  6. Wow, I would love to try out that gluten free flour on some cookies or Brownies!

  7. Also, I'm following you on twitter (@gfcookiegirl). Cheers!

  8. Oh, all right, I'm following you on Facebook, too. :D

  9. I would love to try the GF all-purpose so I could make my new chocolate chip cookie recipe for my friend who was recently diagnosed with cleiac an could really use a good cookie.
